FULL EQUALITY IN PARTNERSHIP RIGHTS

Back to all Motions

Conference
2004 National Lesbian & Gay Conference
Date
24 September 2004
Decision
Carried

Conference welcomes the Civil Partnership Bill, but believes it falls short of full equality.

Conference therefore calls for the following:

1.Both marriage and civil partnership should be available to both same and opposite partners;

2.There should be legal recognition for same and opposite partners who are either unable or unwilling to register or marry;

3.Equality in pensions, tax and inheritance and employment benefits for all couples whether they are married/registered or not.

Conference therefore instructs the NEC, working with Labour Link and other relevant organisations to campaign for full equality and partnership rights”.
