NHS Pensions Review

Back to all Motions

Conference
2004 Health Care Service Group Conference
Date
2 January 2004
Decision
Carried

This conference supports UNISON’s involvement in the NHS Pensions Review which is subject to the Unison wide policy on pensions review and against the background of wider discussions between the TUC and Government on public sector pensions.

Like other sectors, the National Ancillary & Maintenance Sector has concerns around pensions issues relating to pension age, particularly contributions and benefits. We also have major concerns for members doing NHS work but employed by the private sector who are currently unable to join the NHS pension scheme.

This conference believes that there needs to be full involvement of all Unison healthcare sectors in determining Unison policy in the NHS Pensions Review and that the particular issue of access to the NHS Pensions Scheme for ancillary staff employed by private contractors be reopened as part of the discussions.
