UNISON hosts housing roundtables with Generation Rent – England

Online via Zoom

UNISON is working with Generation Rent, the national voice for renters, to host housing roundtables to improve conditions in the private rented sector.

The private rented sector lacks security, affordability and decency.

Rents have skyrocketed and conditions have plummeted.

Now is the time for the voices of renters to be heard and for politicians to wake up and introduce fairness in renting, tackle homelessness and the exploitation of renters by rogue landlords.

As the Renters (Reform) Bill moves through Parliament, UNISON wants to ensure this legislation provides a lasting solution to our broken private rented system.

The roundtables, open to all union members who privately rent in England, will take place from mid April. Participants’ time will be reimbursed with gift vouchers.

UNISON is encouraging our members who privately rent to attend the events, tell their stories about how the housing crisis is affecting them and discuss the improvements they would like to see to tackle this.

The feedback will help us to gain more insight into the issues our members face, raise this with politicians and fight for improved rights, protections and affordable housing for private renters.
