A day to celebrate the operating department practitioner profession and for colleagues and the public to find out more about the ODP role.
This year’s theme is ‘’Inspiring the next generation’ so we want to encourage ODPs everywhere to spread the word far and wide about the ODP profession – go into your local school, college, youth group, Scout/Brownies/Guides meeting or wherever you can to talk with young people about the exciting role that ODPs fulfil and the numerous opportunities available to ODPs.
We have put together a template letter for you to approach local groups to speak to their young people.

And whether you’re an ODP yourself (qualified or training), another healthcare professional, a grateful patient or a proud friend or family member, you can help celebrate this vital group of staff by downloading our graphics and sharing on social media.
This year, we have also designed three messages that can be printed on posters, homemade badges or t-shirts. We want to get photos of people on social media spreading the message – how far can we spread it? And who can get a photo in the most unusual place?
Maybe you’ll print it on a t-shirt and wear it to a park run or theme park? Maybe you’ll wear a badge on your Saturday evening out? We can’t wait to see how you’ll promote our amazing profession; maybe you’ll even get a photo with a famous face?
