Environment Agency Pay Campaign

Environment Agency Pay Campaign

UNISON EA members have accepted a pay offer for 2023/24

  • UNISON, alongside other Environment Agency trade unions, submitted the pay claim for 2023/24 on behalf of all EA staff.
  • UNISON strike action planned for 3-6 November 2023 was suspended, following agreement from Government Ministers to approve the EA’s Pay Flexibility Business Case (PFBC) and a commitment from the employer to engage in new pay talks on this basis.
  • A formal pay offer for 2023/24 was made in November which UNISON members have voted to accept, following a ballot which concluded on 12 December (full results below). The other EA trade unions have also voted to accept.
  • The pay award will be implemented in January 2024, and backdated to July 2023.

The results of the UNISON ballot of EA members on the pay offer, which was open from 23 November to 12 December 2023, were as follows:

  • Vote to accept the offer: 85%
  • Vote to reject the offer: 15%
  • Ballot turnout: 73%

Following acceptance of the offer, the pay award will be paid in January 2024 salaries and backdated to July 2023.
