UNISON partnerships

UNISON has a number of important partnerships with specialist health bodies and organisations.

British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT)

UNISON work closely with the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT), providing industrial relations support to its members and fulfilling BAOT’s role as an NHS trade union.

College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP)

The College of Operating Department Practitioners is the professional body for operating department practitioners (ODPs) – ODPs are registered allied health professionals and are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

ODPs and student ODPs can receive advice and guidance on professional issues from members of the CODP Professional Council while at the same time enjoying the full benefits of UNISON membership, such as workplace representation and access to legal representation on employment issues.

Managers in Partnership (MiP)

MiP is a national branch of UNISON, set up as a joint venture between UNISON and FDA (First Division Association). It provides trade union representation for healthcare managers on Agenda for Change band 8a and above. MiP works closely with UNISON colleagues to promote our values and maximise our influence.

The Social Partnership Forum (SPF)

UNISON is committed to the national Social Partnership Forum (SPF), which brings together NHS Employers, NHS Trade Unions, Health Education England (HEE) and NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to discuss and debate the development and implementation of the workforce implications of policy.
