In November 2021 the Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme (CLAS) scheme rules were amended to close the scheme to new claims from 31 March 2022. The Department of Health and Social Care has recently confirmed an extension of the window for claims to be brought to ensure that the families of those who died while the scheme was open have adequate time to make a claim. Families of health and social care workers who died in the period to 31 March 2022 have an additional 12 months year to 31 March 2023 to bring forward claims.
