About this job

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual who will gain experience in all aspects of running the in-house administration of a medium-sized defined benefit scheme. Versatility and a flexible approach are therefore useful attributes.

The Staff Pensions Team is a small in-house function of four staff and this post requires a “hands on” approach where you would become familiar with the  detail of case work and lead the way in improving the service to scheme members.

This is a dual role where responsibilities also include acting as Scheme Secretary, where you will deal with all aspects of servicing meetings of the Trustee Board and its committees.  You would also have a key role in supporting the good governance of the scheme, co-ordinating compliance with the Regulator’s General Code of Practice and other legislative provisions

The ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences is key as the post holder will liaise with the scheme’s trustees and appointed advisers, as well as providing guidance to employers and ensuring that communications to scheme members are designed with the audience in mind.

Time management is critical as the Pensions Manager is responsible for the completion of various financial returns within deadlines as well as ensuring the timely production of Agenda papers and compliance with the Service Level Agreement

The role calls for an individual who has strong proven pensions experience, strong analytical skills to be able to produce and present relevant information to a range of stakeholders and the ability to communicate effectively and at all levels.

Excellent benefits include 32 days of annual leave, final salary pension scheme, interest free season ticket loan and much more.

Please send a copy of the completed general application form along with a copy of the recruitment and disability form to Serena Hadley and email s.hadley@unison.co.uk by no later than 5pm on 3rd June 2024 quoting ref: ORD/10
