About this job

This regional part time local organiser post is dedicated to support the activity in the Wiltshire and Avon Health UNISON Branch. The majority of the branch membership, work in the health sector either employed directly by NHS employers or by organisations delivering health and social care services. The branch covers a wide geographical area covering the former Avon area and Wiltshire.

The local organiser will be key in supporting the branch to become “ballot ready”.  The role will involve mapping, data cleansing and visiting workplaces to recruit members and activists.  Other work will include supporting the branch to develop activist networks and encouraging member participation from under-represented areas/groups.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills in one-to-one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning.

To undertake this role, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the trade union movement and previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a similar organisation would be an advantage.

You will need to be able to travel throughout the geographical area covered by the branch. Occasional travel outside of this area maybe required – for example to attend training.
