About this job

Members of the branch are people working in Local Government, Schools and Colleges and for charities and private contractors providing public services.

This position is 16 hours per week over four days (to be agreed) (10am – 2pm)

The post-holder will be required to undertake a range of duties including essential administration and managing of the case system, being the first point of contact, recruitment and organising and supporting our Branch Officers and Stewards.

Duties include providing advice and allocating case work. You will use the UNISON membership database and the Branch Case Management System.

You must have good telephone and interpersonal communication skills and be able to deal with members issues in a sensitive and positive manner and with a high recognition of confidentiality and GDPR requirements. You must have the confidence to recruit non-members to UNISON and be able to arrange and carry out recruitment stalls and other similar events.

It goes without saying you will need excellent ICT skills to succeed, in addition to having the confidence to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team.

An understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential.
