About this job

In an increasingly globalised economy key policy decisions about workers rights, public services, taxation and trade are influenced by global capital and the International Financial Institutions. That is why UNISON works in partnership with sister unions and global union federations to make the case for quality public services and to fight against austerity around the world. We also have a responsibility to defend human and trade union rights wherever they are under attack. This work is co-ordinated by UNISON’s international unit who report to the national executive council international committee.

The Assistant International Officer’s role is to assist in the development of policy in specialist areas of international work; to assist in providing support, guidance, information and advice to appropriate lay member structures, other central departments, service groups, self-organised groups, regions and branches. The post holder will work under the guidance and support of the Head of International Relations.
