About this job

The UNISON Centre provides office accommodation for lay members and staff as well as a purpose built Conference Chamber and a large number of bookable meeting rooms.  There is also a cafe bar which operates morning, lunch and evening, and the complex includes a leased out retail unit and 50+ residential units for which UNISON provides hot water, heating and maintenance of communal areas.

You will be responsible for all aspects of managing and maintaining the UNISON Centre building including the provision of security/front of house, post room, catering, cleaning, room booking and events management services, as well as management of third parties delivering maintenance services and oversight of the management and maintenance of the residential flats and retail unit. You will manage a large team delivering specialist catering and engineering services.

The post has responsibility for health and safety provision at the UNISON Centre and oversees the provision of the risk assessment process, health and safety inspections, emergency evacuation drills and managing visitor and staff personal evacuation plans.

You’ll need a minimum of 5 years knowledge and experience of delivering hard and soft facilities management, a BIFM qualification is desirable, although not essential and you will need a recognised Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent).  You will have experience of managing Facilities based projects and be well versed in the legal aspects of FM including Legionella Management, Asbestos Management etc.
