About this job
We’re on the hunt for a talented self-starter with excellent communication skills who can play a vital role in maintaining and extending UNISON’s media profile, and making sure public services stay at the heart of the political agenda.
On a daily basis you’ll be liaising with the media and working in a fast paced, varied environment. Whether you’re promoting an important tribunal case, advising a region how to handle a difficult story or showcasing UNISON’s work highlighting the treatment of care staff, you’ll be a crucial part of an innovative and wide-ranging media operation.
We’re looking for someone who really can make a difference, who can identify and utilise contacts effectively, get the most from a small, committed team, and who is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to raise awareness of the union’s work.
We’re looking for a real people person with an excellent contacts book, who knows what makes a story, and how to devise campaigns that keep UNISON and the dedicated public servants who belong to it in the headlines – for all the right reasons.
You will have crisp writing skills, be a creative yet strategic thinker, be full of enthusiasm, possess excellent attention to detail, be persuasive, able to work quickly but accurately, have the ability to multi-task, and be an all-round ideas person.
