About this job

Our public services are under major threat.  Our members are working under extreme pressure but are actively campaigning for services and jobs. The NHS is facing huge problems and the need for strong trade union organisation in every employer is very apparent.

UNISON’s Health  sector is currently recruiting 2 x Local Fighting Fund Organisers to work as a team with branches  and other UNISON organisers to co-ordinate and lead the union’s organising agenda in the NHS new national bodies with large workplaces in Greater London and areas close to London in the South and East of England.

The successful candidates will bring their experience and skills in one to one communications, recruitment, organising and campaigning.  To undertake this role you will need to be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of the Trade Union and Labour movement and UNISON in the NHS.  Previous experience as a recruiter, organiser and campaigner within a TU branch or within a similar organisation would also be desirable but not essential – your enthusiasm to help us recruit new members and develop workplace representatives and some knowledge of the NHS is what we are looking for.  You will need to be able to travel widely within Yorkshire and to a lesser degree other parts of the North of England as well as occasional travel to London for meetings/training as required.
