Activists

With more than 1.3 million members working for public bodies, private companies and voluntary-sector bodies across the full range of public services, being part of UNISON means you have the full weight of the UK's leading trade union behind you.

You can help your colleagues and fellow UNISON members tackle this and other issues by becoming a UNISON rep or workplace contact.

Our activists and reps are organisers who talk to, recruit and organise members around workplace issues, hold meetings, undertake surveys and help run ballots. They give members information about union issues by publicising campaigns, distributing leaflets and keeping members informed about and involved in local negotiations.

They are advisers and sounding boards, talking to members about workplace problems, advising on how to deal with these and arranging for help or advice from elsewhere in the union or other sources.

They represent and speak on behalf of members in their workplace.
