This May, voters across the UK head to the polls in elections that will shape the future of public services and workplaces.
These include elections to:
- Scottish Parliament
- Senedd Cymru / Welsh Parliament
- English local councils
- London boroughs.
The people elected will make decisions about the services our communities rely on – the state of our roads, care for the elderly, local services and more. That’s why UNISON members have a huge stake in what happens, and why your voice matters.
Since taking control of councils in 2025, Reform UK have:
- Threatened to cut 2,000 jobs at Derbyshire County Council
- Introduced so-called ‘DOGE units’ to drive cuts
- Looked to raise council tax by up to 5%, despite promising lower taxes
- Attacked public sector pensions
- Voted against protections on exploitative zero‑hours contracts, poverty pay and unemployment.
Their leader has also said the minimum wage is too high for young workers and benefits should be cut.
These policies go directly against the interests of UNISON members. So a new Responding to Reform UK network is being built. This is where you come in.
