Across the country the one million people in low-paid jobs who have yet to apply for tax credits should hurry up and do so before it’s too late and universal credit arrives in their area, say UNISON and benefit experts Entitledto today (Monday). The two organisations have issued this urgent appeal to low-income workers because […]
Women, working families, disabled people and ethnic minorities are being penalised by unjust policies which undermine their financial independence and leave some destitute, says UNISON. The union will today (Saturday) call on the Labour Party to campaign for a fair social security system that reverses cuts to work allowances and scraps the current two-child limit […]

The government must reverse its cuts to universal credit so that workers are allowed to keep more of the money they earn every month, says UNISON today (Thursday). Millions of workers on the minimum wage will only see a fraction of any increase, says the union, unless their monthly work allowance goes up too. This […]
People are suddenly finding that their Universal Credit payments either stop completely or fall dramatically simply because of the way they are paid. What’s more they can lose hundreds of pounds.
UNISON backs Children’s Society campaign against changes to free school meal eligibility in England which could stop up to one million children qualifying
This is one of the most dreadful ideas I have ever heard from this government. It would be far better and far more preferable to scrap the two-child limit altogether.
