Responding to Rishi Sunak’s announcement of the extension of the job retention scheme, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis today (Tuesday) said:
“Extending the scheme until the autumn and keeping payment levels at 80% of salaries is the right thing to do and shows the Chancellor has been listening to unions.
“It’s good news for millions of workers in need of some security during uncertain times.
“Supporting a part-time return to work from August is a sensible move which gives employers time to ensure workplaces are safe.”
