No deal rejection welcome, but we’re miles away from the agreement the UK needs

Crashing out of the EU in just over two weeks would be a disaster

Commenting on the parliamentary vote to reject the prospect of leaving the EU without a deal, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:

“MPs have rightly rejected a disastrous no-deal Brexit, but they’re still miles away from the agreement the country needs.

“Crashing out of the EU in just over two weeks would be a disaster. Delaying Article 50 is an absolute must to save public services.

“It’s time the Prime Minister took her head out of the sand. There’s a majority in Parliament for a deal that protects rights at work, jobs, wages and peace in Northern Ireland.

“Theresa May should ignore the Brextremists on her backbenches and work with those MPs who actually want to reach a deal.”
