Shrugging off the last vestige of pretence

The Tories meeting this week at their last party conference before the general election are visibly shrugging off any last vestige of pretending to be compassionate conservatives.

First up is yet another brutal attack on the people unfortunate enough to have to rely on benefits to live.

A further cap on benefits, allegedly to pay for apprenticeships, fools no-one.  It is part of the Tory plan to dismantle our welfare state, along with our NHS, and foster division.

Fear of the rise of UKIP will fuel a further lurch to the right at this conference and in the coming months.

Make no mistake, whatever policies the Tories come up with, either at this conference or in the run-up to the general election, will not be about what’s best for the country but what’s best for the Tories.

Don’t forget, under the Tories we have lost 750,000 public sector jobs, seen huge cuts in local government, health, police, education spending and seen the poor, the sick and the vulnerable stigmatised.
