The Department for Education (DfE) is consulting on legislative changes to how Social Work England (SWE) operates as the professional regulator for social workers in England.
The consultation document is here: Changes to Social WorkEngland’s regulatory framework – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
UNISON was not engaged in developing these legislative changes, and feels that key issues relating to social worker fitness to practice have not been properly considered.
The union encourages social workers to complete a short survey to feed back on the government’s positions. The survey is available here.
The survey is anonymous and shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes to complete. The closing date is 5pm on Friday 6 May.
