The UK needs a Labour government, says UNISON

Commenting on Jeremy Corbyn’s speech to Labour Party conference today (Tuesday), UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis said:

“Today Jeremy Corbyn set out an inspiring vision for a better future.

“One that puts people first and the heart back into communities with new rights for workers, a higher minimum wage, and improved social care.

“With better-funded public services, an end to privatisation and the scrapping of the vindictive trade union act.

“At a time of such turmoil and division in Westminster and across our country, Labour must now get behind that vision and win the upcoming election.

“Our public services and our communities need a Labour government with Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister.”

Notes to editors:
– UNISON is the biggest union representing care workers. It is also the UK’s largest union, with more than 1.3 million members providing public services – in education, local government, the NHS, police service and energy. They are employed in both the public and private sectors.
