Do you know an outstanding healthcare assistant?

Nominations are open for the UNISON-sponsored Jean Atkinson award for outstanding healthcare assistant (closing date 21 April)

Do you know an outstanding healthcare assistant working within a mulitdisciplinary team? Or are you one yourself?

Then why not nominate them – or apply – for the UNISON-sponsored Jean Atkinson award for outstanding healthcare assistant, which is part of the Cavell Nurses’ Trust annual qualified nurses award?

The award recognises the wide range of responsibilities and dedication of healthcare assistants who promote the highest standards of care across the whole health service.

In the words of award organisers the Cavell Trust, healthcare assistants “make a huge contribution to maintaining and protecting the health and well-being of people across the UK.

“We think they deserve to be recognised and celebrated for the vital work they do.”

UNISON is proud to sponsor the award, which is named after late union member and activist Jean Atkinson MBE.

An auxiliary nurse herself, Jean worked in the NHS for 28 years and, as a UNISON activist, dedicated herself to improving and protecting the health service and working as a dedicated advocate for all NHS staff – particularly healthcare assistants.
