EU migrant members speak up for right to remain

UNISON is supporting a day of lobbying and celebration in defence of its EU migrant members

UNISON’s EU migrant members are preparing for a day of lobbying and celebration during which they will champion their right to remain in the UK.

And the union is urging all its members to support their fellow workers.

Tens of thousands of UNISON members have moved to the UK from elsewhere in the European Union and work hard to provide vital public services, especially in the NHS and local government.

These union members and their families deserve better than years of uncertainty, while the government uses them as bargaining chips in the forthcoming negotiations on the UK’s exit from the EU.

A number of initatives are taking place across the country on Monday 20 February to defend their right to remain.

UNISON is helping organise a lobby of MPs in Westminster, alongside campaign groups the New Europeans and the3million.

The union is also supporting the migrant campaign group One Day Without Us in celebrating the contribution that migrants – from the EU and the wider world – make to British society.
