FE consultation on English employers’ offer now open

Members in further education have until 4 November to respond to the consultation on the employers’ ‘first and final’ pay offer

UNISON members in further education in England are being consulted on the employers’ “first and final offer” throughout October, in a process that will end on 4 November.

In late September, the Association of Colleges made its offer of an increase of 1% on all salary points or £250 – whichever is the greater.

UNISON expressed disappointment at the offer, but together with the other further education unions, we have agreed to consult with members.

The UNISON national further education and sixth form colleges committee met on 3 October and agreed to recommend that we consult members, as the offer is “the best that could be achieved by negotiation”.

The committee acknowledged that for many staff, the biggest issue is whether their college will implement the association’s recommendation.

The committee reaffirmed its support for any branch taking action over non-implementation of the award.
