This weekend thousands gathered in Dorset to enjoy the Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival.
The weekend of family entertainment, stalls, political debate, comedy and music had the theme ‘more in common’ this year, in tribute to the late MP Jo Cox who said in her maiden speech in Parliament that “we are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.”
UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis attended the festival, as did TUC President and UNISON assistant general secretary Liz Snape.
Attendees from UNISON South West region talked to festival-goers about workplace support for schools staff, campaigns across the region and the importance of joining a union.
