The debate was called by shadow health secretary Heidi Alexander on the plans to scrap bursaries student nurses, midwives and other health professionals in England, replacing them with student loans.

It will take place tomorrow afternoon (4 May) after Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons.

MPs will debate a cross-party motion signed by 139 MPs from all major parties, calling on the government to “drop its plans to remove NHS bursaries” and consult on how best to fund and support the future healthcare workforce.

UNISON has produced a simple online form at e-activist.com, which will allow you to email your MP quickly and ask them to speak up for nurses and health workers in Parliament.
