Labour contenders make their pitch to UNISON members

The four contenders for the Labour leadership take part in UNISON hustings

The four candidates for the Labour Party leadership have addressed UNISON members, whose votes they will be seeking in the election later this year.

Liz Kendall, Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Jeremy Corbin took part in the hustings on Friday in Manchester.

The leadership election has been prompted by Ed Miliband’s resignation as Labour leader, following the party’s defeat in the general election.

This time around, the leadership election will be conducted using a one member – one vote system.

UNISON members who wish to vote must be paying a proportion of their subs into the union’s affiliated political fund.

However, to activate your vote you’ll need to sign up as a registered Labour Party supporter.

Ballots will be sent out on 14 August, and need to be returned by 10 September.

For those who did not attend the hustings you can watch opening and closing statements or an unedited film of the entire event here

The films also include the deputy leader hustings.
