Government fails to ensure right to adequate housing, says new report

The  government is failing to ensure the right to adequate housing in England, under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, says a new report.

Protecting the Right to Housing in England: a context of crisis identifies two main concerns: high levels of homelessness, and the quality, affordability and regulation of the private rented sector.

The report is from the Just Fair Consortium, a campaign group for economic, social and cultural rights, which UNISON is a member of.

UNISON is campaigning for more social and affordable housing so people have more choice; regulations to make private renting more affordable, secure and decent; and welfare reform to address increased homelessness.
