NMC council has vacancies to fill

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is seeking two individuals to join its council.

The council is the governing body of the NMC and its members are the charity trustees. The remit of the council is to:

  • set the NMC’s strategic direction and corporate objectives in line with its core purpose;
  • ensure effective systems are in place for managing performance and risk; and
  • maintain probity in, and public accountability for, the exercise of the NMC’s functions and the use of funds.

To be eligible for appointment, you must live or work in any of the four UK nations. As required under the NMC constitution, at least one appointee must live or work wholly or mainly in Scotland.

The positions are open to any nurse or midwife who is currently on the NMC register. The successful appointees will take office from 1 May 2015.

The time commitment for these positions is approximately three days a month, with a remuneration package of £12,000 a year. The NMC will also reimburse reasonable expenses.

For both vacancies, the NMC is particularly seeking to attract a registrant either with experience of leading pre-registration education; or senior-level experience of governance, human resources and/or ICT. The deadline for applications is 12pm, 2 February 2015.

Further details are available on the NMC website.
