We have been alerted that Bournemouth Convention Bureau Limited is approaching branches offering its services with regard to delegate accommodation for UNISON conferences.
We are therefore reissuing advice first sent to branches in October 2012:
We have received reports from branches of persistent, unsolicited emails and letters from an accommodation booking agent, Bournemouth Convention Bureau Ltd, offering its services for UNISON conferences and listing the dates of future conferences, suggesting that UNISON has a relationship with this company.
UNISON does not have a relationship with BCB Ltd, and has not provided BCB Ltd with contact details for UNISON branches.
UNISON promotes the use of local authority accommodation bureaus wherever we take our conferences, and we advertise their details in the relevant conference bulletin.
We work closely with the local accommodation bureau staff, many of whom are union members, and they are on hand during the period of the conference should any problems arise with local hoteliers.
The union has written to BCB Ltd setting out the position and asking it to cease contacting UNISON branches offering accommodation at UNISON conferences.
