Ask your MP to help end illegal pay for care workers this Wednesday

UNISON is urging members to ask their MPs to attend a debate this Wednesday (5 November) on the scandal of homeworkers being paid less than the minimum wage.

Around 200,000 care workers are being illegally paid less than the £6.50 an hour minimum wage.

The Westminster Hall debate about care workers takes takes at 9:30am and is a great opportunity for us to get MPs to debate the problem of illegally paid care workers and to force the government to take some decisive action to end the scandal.

Illegal pay not only condemns care workers to poverty and misery but it also has a terrible impact on the quality of care that disabled and elderly care users across the UK receive.

Please contact your MP and ask that they attend the debate. The more MPs who attend mean that the government is going to be more likely to take action.

It’s really easy to ask your MP to attend. We have drafted a model email for you to send but please feel free to add your own reasons as to why they should attend the debate.
