Sixth form pay claim

UNISON has submitted a pay claim to the Sixth Form Colleges Association (SFCA) calling for a substantial increase on all salary scales with a commitment to the living wage for all staff.

It also calls for a review of the support staff salary spine, including deletion of the bottom two points and an increase in the support staff standards payment together with an additional day’s leave for all support staff.

The claim highlights the fall in living standards suffered by staff in colleges and the danger that they will become the lowest paid staff in the public sector, unless there is a substantial increase.

UNISON is due to meet with the SFCA to consider the claim in mid-July.
