Have your say on HE pay

UNISON members working in higher education across the UK are having their say on the “full and final” 2% pay offer from the employers. An A4 leaflet outlining the offer can be downloaded from the link at the end of this report.

The consultation is being carried out by union branches, which must return their results by email to education@unison.co.uk by Friday 23 May.

The UNISON higher education service group executive will meet to discuss the consultation result on 30 May.

If you work in higher education and have not had your say on pay yet, please contact your branch now.

It is vitally important that we have a high turn-out so that we know what UNISON members feel about the offer. Speak to your colleagues in your workplace on the offer, and encourage more people in higher education to join UNISON.

Members can join instantly by calling 0800 171 2193 or join online at https://join.unison.org.uk.

UNISON is keen to grow and strengthen branches at local level, build our density in universities and improving our negotiating position in the future.

Other trade unions have announced the results of their pay consultation:

  • Unite members voted overwhelmingly to accept the offer on a turnout of just over 50%;
  • the GMB has also seen an overwhelming vote to accept;
  • EIS has announced a similar high turnout and acceptance, and the union is contacting members to calling off plans for a marking ban;
  • UCU announced its cceptance of the offercalled off a marking ban and ended its dispute earlier this month.
