UNISON to consult on PTE pay offer

The passenger transport executive (PTE) employers have made an early offer in the 2014 pay round. UNISON is to consult members on the terms.

The secretary of the employers’ side said: “I have consulted with the PTEs that participate in the terms and conditions element of the passenger transport forum, and agreed to make an offer of 1% in line with the government’s conditions for public sector pay.

“This offer is made in the light of the increasingly difficult financial position of PTEs as a result of reduced funding for local authorities, whilst wishing to recognise that our staff are making a major contribution to our regions and the public sector pay restraint.”

The intention is to reach an agreement “in plenty of time to include any increase in April pay packets.”

At a meeting on 18 February, the trade union side considered the offer and agreed to consult locally.

They have proposed to the employer that, whatever the eventual settlement, it be distributed as a flat rate increase across the grades.

The offer affects those PTEs that participate in the negotiating element of the passenger transport forum – West Yorkshire, CENTRO and Transport for Greater Manchester.
