Unison’s head of health Christina McAnea said trips to the dentist had become a luxury for many thanks to soaring bills and the Tory-led Coalition’s austerity measures.
She said: “Things are bad when people neglect oral health for money reasons. This is the early sign of a major problem.” Dentistry is one of the few NHS services people pay for. Costs range from £18 to £214 depending on the treatment.
