Speaking up for the living wage during Living Wage Week in the East Midlands

UNISON in the East Midlands is getting the message out this Living Wage Week.

The week began on Monday with an event in Nottingham market square. Over a hundred people gathered to hear the announcement of the new living wage and to launch UNISON’s AdVan which is touring the region all week. Members marched behind the AdVan to Nottingham City Council where they handed out leaflets to make staff aware we are campaigning for the living wage.

Today the UNISON Living Wage Ad Van is visiting Nottingham University to deliver living wage leaflets to staff and students working and studying at the Portland building with support from regional staff, young Labour students and the Student Union.

And on Wednesday UNISON will be celebrating the announcements by Derby City and Derbyshire County Council to raise their minimum level of pay to the living wage. A team of activists will be talking to members of the public and getting petition signatures in the city centre.
