Time for action on ambulance dispute

UNISON, the UK’s largest ambulance union, today called on ambulance trusts across England to act now to head-off strike action in the service.  The union is leading talks challenging changes to sick pay arrangements which would leave paramedics and ambulance workers with a 25% cut in their pay.

Christina McAnea, UNISON Head of Health, is negotiating on behalf of all the unions, she said:

“A strike in the ambulance service is not good for anyone, and we are calling on employers to continue discussions to resolve this.

“UNISON is preparing to ballot its members across Ambulance Trusts in England, but we are willing to negotiate with the employers to avert strike action.”
