UNISON Northern Ireland’s Omagh and Fermanagh branch, working in partnershhip with the Western Health and Social Care Trust’s (WHSCT) health improvement team have said they are delighted to fund a 10-week fitness class for clerical staff at Enniskillen’s South West Acute Hospital.

UNISON Omagh and Fermanagh’s branch secretary Jill Weir said the scheme was a highly enjoyable experience for everyone taking part.

“It was suggested by one of our members that UNISON should help organise a fitness class for administration and clerical staff. As we are always thinking of ways to support our members, it was agree that we would fund the pilot scheme, in partnership with the WHSCT’s health improvement team.”

“The WHSCT kindly provided the premises and we agreed to fund the scheme, allowing non-members to participate at a nominal fee.”

“Caroline Greene, a local fitness instructor, has arranged for 20 members of staff to take up the 10-week challenge.”

“Caroline has definitely put everyone through their paces but it has been great fun. It has helped rid some of the stress from our busy lives and everybody has been getting fitter and healthier in the process”.

The classes take place every Wednesday from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. For more information, contact Jill Weir at unison.erne@westerntrust.hscni.net.
