Support striking UNISON members in Rochdale

Despite UNISON’s attempts to enter into meaningful negotiation with Future Directions, 115 members of Rochdale UNISON branch are due to take part in a further 10 days of strike action.

This follows 19 days of industrial action over the last four months.

Future Directions is a community interest company wholly owned by Calderstones NHS Trust which was contracted to deliver supported living services in Rochdale. The company cut workers’ pay and conditions and in some cases basic pay has been reduced by one-third. Over 80% of the workers are women and predominantly part-time.

The branch is appealing for donations in order to sustain any future action. Messages of support and donations to the hardship fund can be sent c/o Helen Harrison, Branch Secretary, Rochdale UNISON, 46 Richard Street, Rochdale, OL11 1DU, or email unison@rochdale.gov.uk
