UNISON members working for East Cambridgeshire Council will be holding a lobby of councillors on Thursday 25 July.
The trade union is worried that the Tory councillors’ plan to borrow millions of pounds to pay for 14 fourteen large-scale projects will put the future of essential services at risk.
Phil Gooden, UNISON regional organiser said “The council is already facing unprecedented cuts to its funding by the government. Borrowing huge sums of money to spend on politically driven schemes puts at risk the essential services that the people of East Cambridgeshire rely on.”
According to reports councillors are planning to sell off council assets and cut services and jobs for the next 25 years in order to repay the money they will need to borrow.
The lobby will take place at the East Cambs District Council offices, Nutholt Lane, Ely, CB7 4PL from 3.30pm until 4.30pm
