UNISON, the UK’s largest union today called on the Education Minister, Michael Gove to stop the delay and start work on re-building and refurbishing our crumbling schools.
Jon Richards, UNISON Head of Education, said:
“The slow start to the Government’s school rebuilding programme is damaging for pupils, staff and the economy. It is a win-win choice to upgrade buildings and facilities. New buildings boost morale and can inspire pupils and staff to achieve more.
“With the country sinking into a triple dip recession, investing in infrastructure would give a much needed boost to jobs and the local economy.”
