UNISON is urging hard-pressed staff in higher and further education in Greater London to ‘Reclaim your lunch’ and to recruit a friend to join UNISON and do likewise.
This comes as part of UNISON’s recruitment campaign, where the union is urging non-members to join and get the essential cover the union provides.
Stalls and fairs will also be held at flagship hospitals such as Guys and St Thomas’, Imperial and Barts and the London.
Events are also taking place at community and voluntary sector employers, the Housing Associations branch had a stall at an International Women’s Day event, while events are also taking place at schools and academies.
The region is supporting utilities branches to re-sign members lost following the fragmentation of British Gas, and is also focusing on private contractors, including Veolia, NSL and SERCO.
Linda Perks, regional secretary, said: “We are doing all we can to strengthen our density within private contractors so we can continue to support and defend our members.”
