Bristol set for Future that Works festival

Austerity isn’t working – and South Gloucester branch is holding a festival tomorrow to get that fact across.

Not only is austerity no good for public services or the public who rely on those services, it isn’t giving this country a future that works.

The South Gloucester branch has organised a free festival For A Future That Works at Kingswood Park, Bristol, between 1pm and 6pm.

There will be stalls, music, speakers and refreshments – plenty to make it a fun family afternoon out and a chance to lend your voice to the campaign against the austerity measures.

Branch secretary Richard Orton explains that the aim of the festival, “is to highlight alternatives to local and regional cuts – and to build for 20 October and the TUC’s March for a Future that Works in London.”

He says that the branch, with help from the South West region, has invited other unions to take part in the event, and wants to “promote the importance of trade unions in the workplace and the community”.

And as well as lots of fun, there’ll be plenty of materials to spread the message that joining UNISON and joining us at the march on 20 October is the best way to build a future that works.
