The ballot helpline for members voting in the Local Government Pension Scheme ballot closes at 10am tomorrow.
Members covered by the LGPS in England and Wales are currently voting on proposals for a new LGPS from 2014.
The ballot helpline has been open on Mondays to Fridays from 6am to midnight and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
Four out of five UNISON service groups are recommending that members vote ‘YES’ in the ballot.
The proposals for England and Wales come after long and tough negotiations, between local authorities, represented by the Local Government Association, and local government unions led by UNISON, Unite and the GMB.
Ballot papers were sent direct to the home addresses of all UNISON members who have access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
The ballot runs from 31 July to 24 August, and members can vote by post or online.
