UNISON’s national executive council sent a solidarity message to striking members in Camden this morning.
Parking enforcement staff at the London borough, who work for private contractor NSL, are starting a two-day strike over pay, today and tomorrow.
The workers are paid £8.09 an hour, 20p below the London living wage, and are taking action after a 97% vote on a 63% turnout. UNISON membership at the company has trebled over the last three years and Camden became the first branch to win recognition at the company last year.
The main business of the NEC meeting in London was to review last month’s national delegate conference.
