Seven new service group executives have been elected for the next two years.
The new executives take office immediately after the close of the union’s national delegate conference next week, and their term of office will run until the end of national delegate conference in 2014.
The seven service groups are:
- community;
- energy;
- health care;
- higher education;
- local government;
- police and justice;
- water, environment and transport.

The seven executives:
agree the priorities and objectives of the service group as a whole, including all the membership groups who come under its umbrella;
agree and develop policy on issues such as privatisation, pay and service delivery;
take a strategic overview of the service groups’ aims and objectives;
work with branches, regions and sector committees in the interests of members;
implement policy decisions voted on by members at the service group conferences.
