Birmingham University members strike

Higher Education delegates stand shoulder to shoulder with striking UNISON members at Birmingham University

(21/06/12) General secretary Dave Prentis sent a message of support and solidarity to members at Birmingham University today as they begin two days of strike action.

In a message to the branch, Mr Prentis wrote: “On behalf of our national executive council and UNISON conference, I send you our solidarity and full support for your brave action today and tomorrow and your campaign for decent pay.

“Please convey my very best wishes to all our members taking action.”

Some 200 UNISON members are taking part in “unprecedented” strike action – the first in 20 years – in a dispute over pay negotiations which have reached an impasse.

Members have been in formal dispute with Birmingham University since December.
