Higher education employers offer 1%

Higher education employers have made a final pay offer of a 1% pay rise across the board, with a commitment to more work on a number of other issues raised in the joint union claim.

The offer came at the final negotiating meeting with the joint unions in London yesterday.

UNISON national secretary for education Jon Richards commented: “Clearly the offer does not meet the trade union claim in full and it represents a further below inflation pay rise in the sector.”

The union’s higher education service group executive will meet to consider its response to the claim, including any recommendation to members, on 31 May and branches will be consulted in June.

UNISON will work closely with the other higher education trade unions on a co-ordinated response.
