West Mids fight police sell off

UNISON’s West Midlands police branch is fighting back against plans to privatise all support staff functions in the region.

And this afternoon, it took the campaign to the heart of Birmingham, outside the city’s cathedral, to ask members of the public to sign a petition against the moves.

The services that would be sold off include forensics and 999 call handling, which would then be run with a legal need to make profit for company shareholders.

This has potentially big ramifications for public safety and should concern everyone living in the area.
